Proverbs 29: The Power Of Revelation

Stained Glass Temple.jpg

Alright, I’m back! Ending my short hiatus; things have been pretty rough around here. But at least I’ve got an extra-beautiful picture this time. I got a rare chance to go see the San Antonio Temple for once, and I’ve only been there a few times, but I always love seeing the  stained glass that surrounds all its walls. This is a shot from the entrance door. I’m not one for stained glass, but that temple has the most beautiful windows I’ve ever seen.

I’ll keep this brief for once, since I have a lot else to do today. Finally got a job interview, among other things, so after really taking my time with scripture today, I had a lot to write about. But I’ll focus on Proverbs this time, since chapter 29 brought some beautiful revelations (haha, get it? I’ll shut up now…)

As always, Proverbs is a great book to read from if you just need some concentrated life advice, and chapter 29 is no exception. Today, though, one verse in particular caught my attention: verse 18.

Ever Wonder What Mormons Really Believe?

Pretty Pond Full View

Now’s your chance to ask a real one! And none of your friends will find out. 😉

Since it’s been on my mind, I figured I’d write this to my Christian friends, because the few people who know we exist seem to know nothing about our beliefs, just that we’re somehow “not Christian.” So, after doing my reading this morning, I figured I’d put this out for all my friends to read, so that you can get informed from someone who actually believes and practices it actively, without getting yelled at by your pastor/bishop/parents/teacher for it.

So, I was thinking about how to go about this, and this morning, I figured it out. Listed below, I’ve got the Articles of Faith, which is just a quick list of 13 basic points that summarize everything we believe in the LDS Church. It sums it all up really well, and everything else we talk about is just details. It all comes back to this, by the end of the day. Like the Bill of Rights to our Constitution, so are the Articles of Faith to the LDS Church. But, since some points might be a little unclear, I’ll just add some notes of my own to elaborate.

So, if you ever wanted a quick summary of our beliefs, just to finally get informed on that group you know next-to-nothing about, here you go! Satisfy your curiosity. And don’t worry; I won’t tell anyone. XD

Acts 20: Paul And The Apostasy

Gorgeous Pink Flowers.jpg

Alrighty! Time to get the new day started off right. This time I’ve got a little something on Acts 20 for y’all. And some pretty flowers I found in my neighborhood. Aren’t they beautiful? 🙂 So today, I found a big chunk of Paul’s words that basically talk a lot about the Apostasy. He was prophesying it in the days before his death, cuz he knew he was going to die pretty soon.

It’s times like this, when I see it was prophesied in the New Testament, that I wonder how most Christians are able to dismiss the idea. It’s like, even though Jesus said there’s only one church, people think it’s normal to have thousands of different churches, even though they don’t agree on the most basic doctrines. Even though there’s always been a prophet and/or apostles around, people aren’t troubled by the fact that their church doesn’t have any. But that’s how God has always led his people, from day one. Why is nobody bothered by this?
